2009 TABLETOP COMPETITION

AT

ARKANSAS FLOWER AND GARDEN SHOW

The Arkansas Flower and Garden Show will be held in Little Rock at the Statehouse Convention Center February 27-March 1. The theme for 2009 is “Dream Gardens”.  Tabletop Competition will be held in the Atrium on Thursday February 26^th . Two Prizes of $500.00 each will be awarded to the winner.  $500.00 from the Arkansas Florists Association and $500.00 from the Arkansas Flower and Garden Show. 

Eligibility Requirements:

·        Contestants must be shop owners or employees of shops who are current members of the Arkansas Florists Association or an Associate Member of the Arkansas Florists Association.     

·        All contestants must meet one of the following criteria

                        Be a member of AIFD

                        Be an Arkansas Master Florist

                        Be a past winner or runner up of the Arkansas Cup Competition

                        Be a past 1^st or 2^nd place winner in the annual Scholarship Design Competition

Set up time for the competition is between 12:00 noon and 1:00 pm.  Indoctrination will be at 12:45.  Competition will begin promptly at 1:00pm and end promptly at 3:30pm.

 Each contestant will

             Be provided with a five foot round and draped table
            Provide their own materials and tools
            Be allowed one helper, although the helper will not be allowed to do any of the
            design work.
            Be allowed to put all props in place during set up time but design work must
            be completed during the hours of competition.  No pre-arranged  pieces will be permitted
           All materials used in the design work must be either fresh or dried flowers and plant materials.

 The entire design will be confined to the table with no parts cascading onto the floor.

 Clean up time will be from 3:30pm - 4:00pm.  Contestant must be finished and out of the area by 4:00pm.

 Monetary prize awards and photos will be made at 3:30pm Sunday, March 1, after which the display may be torn down & removed.
