The 2007 Arkansas Florists Association Convention and Trade Market was held August 17, 18 & 19 in beautiful Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas.

Festivities began on Thursday evening with a Wine & Cheese Reception in the President's Suite.  Friday morning the vendors began moving into the trade market.  While vendors were moving in and setting up their booths, Arkansas designers were making preparation to compete in the Arkansas Cup Competition.
Anticipation was building as guest designers invited to compete in the Mid America Cup Competition were
getting ready for their contest.  Both of these design contests were held on Friday.

Friday evening florists from all over the state of Arkansas and guests from
surrounding states gathered for the dinner and show featuring Talmage McLaurin,
AIFD and publisher of Florist Review Magazine.  The program he presented was
entitled "America's Floral Trends Forecast".  This program was sponsored by
Southern Wholesale in Little Rock.

Saturday morning at nine o'clock a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the
entrance to the Trade Market.  Dignitaries from the city of Hot Springs and
those within the floral industry, along with Miss Arkansas were on
hand for the ribbon cutting.

The trade market opened following the ribbon cutting and
thus began the week end of design programs, shopping,
making new acquaintances and renewing old ones.

Saturday evening was capped off with a beautifully decorated banquet that took us to a place in New York called Broadway.  Ms. Linda Petty presented a program which included songs from Broadway shows that we have all come to know and love.  Not only did she sing the songs, but added a little history as to how some of the shows came to fruition.  www.lindapetty.com

On Sunday the design seminar featured Jeff Corbin, AIFD, FTD Design Instructor
and FTD Educator Team Member,  presenting his program of "Economical Elegance"
sponsored by FTD.

The general concensus was that everyone learned a lot, spent a lot and had a real good time!
