A change to the by-laws was adopted by the Exective Board at their scheduled meeting on June 18, 2008 which reads as follows"

Per Section 3 of Article X:  Change was adopted to Section 2 of Article I which reads as follows:
Only owners, former owners (that have held ownership of a retail florist fifteen (15) or more consecutive years or coorporate offiers of firms who have held active memebership for at least one (1) year prior to their election and  whose dues are paid shall be eligible to serve on the Board.

The amendment to the by-laws was approved at the annual meeting of the Arkansas Florists Association held at the Hot Springs Convention Center August 19,  2007 in Hot Springs Naitonal Park, Arkansas.

The amendment reads: 

Associate membership will be granted to individuals, firms or organizations affiliated with  the floral industry.  Associate Members in good standing will be listed in the Association membership directory and will receive all mailings.  Associate member will be eligible to register for and attend all Association functions and convention, eligible to register for and attend any educational programs, eligible to enter any competition and  accept any prizes offered (provided they meet the rules and regulations of the donors).  Associate members will not have voting rights, and may not be elected to serve on the board of directors.  A representative from the associate membership may be invited to sit on the board for one year at the discretion of the President with approval of the board of directors.  Annual dues and any registration fees for association functions are the same as active members.  Association membership will be granted to the following categories.

            Out of State Florists 
           Floral Wholesale Companies
           Wedding and Event Planners
           Interior Designers
           Wire Serve Organizations
            Free Lance Designers
            Sales Representatives engaged in business allied to the Floral Industry    
            Owners and Operators of Nurseries and Greenhouses
            Any other industry affiliated with Floral Industry
