Arkansas Florists Association - EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year the Arkansas Florists Association awards four scholarships to individuals deemed worthy by the AFA trustees of the Scholarship Committee. These scholarships honor individuals who have made significant contributions to our association.

GARY BREWER - A gifted designer and commentator was well known throughout the industry for his remarkable design skill, style and creativity as well as his unmatched humor and knowledge. Gary began and ended his career in Arkansas.

WEBER McFARLAND - A lifelong florist who was well known throughout the industry. He traveled around the country entertaining and educating with his unique commentary. He was a strong supporter of the Arkansas Florists Association and attended almost every Arkansas convention.

BOBBIE ST. PIERRE

- A longtime association member and past president of the Arkansas Florist Association.

PAST PRESIDENTS - The Past Presidents of AFA voted at the 2006 Past Presidents luncheon to award an additional scholarship to further advance education within the floral industry in Arkansas. The first scholarship was awarded at the 2007 convention.

The following criteria must be met in order to enter this competition:

All shop owner applicants must own their shop and have been an association member in good standing for the past two years.

All employee applicants must be employed on a full time basis for the past year in Arkansas by a member shop in good standing.

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN
JULY 24, 2009 TO BE CONSIDERED.

Winner is entitled to a $500.00 cash scholarship to a course of study at a floral school recognized by the Arkansas Florist Association.

The cash payment will be made upon proof of completion of the edcuational program approved by the Association.
