AFA hosted the 2nd Annual Mid-America Invitational
Cup Competition in August. There were designers
from seven states represented including
Kay Schlaefli, AMF, Arkansas;
Ross Railey, Alabama;
Eddie Brown, AMF,Kansas;
Donna Fields, Kentucky;
Elizabeth Williams, Mississippi;
Colleen Howard OMF, Oklahoma;
Mike Koch, Missouri (Ozark Florist Association). Elizabeth Williams of Mostly Martha’s Flowers
in Ridgeland, Mississippi was the 2007 winner.
Complete story and pictures are on the website. In 2008 the competition will be held in Hot Springs in
conjuction with the AFA Convention and Trade Market.
Any state Designer of the Year is invited to participate

Congratulations to...
Shane Cranford, AIFD of Friday’s Florist in
Little Rock, competed in the Society of American
Florists’ 40th Annual Sylvia Cup Competition
representing Arkansas as the 2006 Mid America
Cup Winner. The competition was in Septemeber
in Palm Springs, California.
Mike Koch of Clarksville Florist in Clarksville who
won first place in the NFFA Designer of the year
competition. Mike represented Ozark Florist
Associaiton at the NFFA meeting held in
Detroit in October. Jo Buttram of Shirley’s Florist in Rogers
was inducted into the American Academy of
