UCA presents first alumni service award to Plummer

Last week, the University of Central Arkansas Alumni Association
awarded its first service award to Bill Plummer of Plumerville.
The service award was designed to honor an individual or couple,
who through their deeds or actions, reflect and recognize the
importance of the UCA Alumni Association and demonstrate
extraordinary commitment, dedication, service and loyalty to
the association. Plummer is a 1951 graduate of the university
and has served the association since 1994, holding positions
on various committees and the executive board. He is currently serving his fourth term as the alumni association
president. He holds lifetime membership with the association,
is a member of the Half-Century Club and has established a
scholarship for students majoring in theatre at UCA. ********************************************************** From the Trade Market Floor

by Wendel McCorkle After a wonderful 2007 convention, we especially need to thank Talmage
McLaurin, AFID, Marie Ackerman, AIFD and Jeff Corbin, AIFD for the superb
presentations they brought us. Also, thank you to all those on the design panel,
along with our commentator, Richard Seaboldt, AIFD, who did a beautiful job.
Another big thank you to all the volunteers who helped in every phase of the
designing.
There are lots of exciting things in store for the design team for 2008.
We are looking forward to many of the best designers coming to join
us this next year. We will keep you posted throughout the year on

The 2007 President’s Banquet was stunning. We would like to thank everyone
who helped with the decorations. A special thanks to Scott Brents at Fairy
Tale Florist for allowing us to use his chair covers and ties. The extra touch
made the banquet hall look exquisite. Glenn Oswalt was responsible for the
cocktail hour decorations, Kelly Warden the head table and Ron Riddel the
stage backdrop. Caleb, Jennifer and crew at the convention center put their
expertise to work with the sound, special effects and lighting. They really
make us look good and we appreciate it.
It takes a lot of dedicated people to put on an event such as this and we want
to thank our president, Jim Watts, for giving us a great theme and letting us run
with it. Next year promises to be a lot of fun. Start planning for South of the Border.
Dig out your dancing shoes and practice those Latin moves as we all get
together next year and have another great convention.
